January is the month when the gyms are full, wallets are empty, and everyone is focused on health. People are looking for ways to get healthier in the new year, while others continue to live the same lifestyle as last year. Being healthy is not complicated, but we often think that way due to the amount of content online. Influencers are constantly suggesting different diets, and it can be overwhelming.
In this article, I want to share some tips that everyone should implement in their life.
What to do in 2026?
- Stop consuming ultra-processed foods. Anything which comes in a box or can is usually ultra-processed. Microwave meals, chips, cereals, processed meats and plant-based alternatives should all be avoided. If it contains any ingredients which you can’t even pronounce, leave it on the shelf!
- Don’t consume processed sugars. Refrain from adding sugar to teas and coffees. Don’t consume sugary sodas, cookies, etc. or anything containing high fructose syrup.
- Be careful of hidden sugars such as maltodextrin, cornstarch, dextrose, and modified maize starch. Any starch will raise your blood sugar significantly, leading to increased hunger. These are often in most foods today for really no valid reason except to lower costs. I picked up a bag of fries the other day, only to find it was covered in maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is worse than table sugar.
- Eat more saturated fats like animal fats, avocados, nuts, butter and ghee.
- Don’t consume too many carbohydrates. This really depends on your goals and lifestyle. If you really want to lose weight, you should limit it to 30g a day especialy if youre insulin resistant. Be careful of shop-bought breads, they are full of chemicals most of the time. I recommend baking your own if you’re gonna eat bread.
- Incorporate intermittent fasting. Fasting gives your body a chance to repair itself and use fat stores. Start with 16:8 and slowly work your way up to a longer 20:4 and then OMAD. Don’t forget electrolytes when fasting!
- Stop using seed oils and start cooking with tallow and ghee.
- Eat more meat, especially red meat. Get your protein from clean sources like meat and eggs.
If you incorporate all these tips, you will 100% live a better life. You will have a clearer mind and more energy. This is how our ancestors ate. Let’s go back to our roots together!
