Our Ingredients

At T’s Tallow, we take pride in sourcing the highest-quality ingredients. All our ingredients are traceable and come from reliable sources. Everything we use is natural and has been minimally processed.

Here are some details on each of our ingredients to give you peace of mind when shopping at teestallow.

Our Irish Tallow

Our tallow is rendered in house by us. We source our raw fat from Dunleavy Meats in Ireland. The cattle are grass-fed on pastures, and when housed, are fed grass-based feeds. Some farmers feed their animals on meal or cereal-based feeds, all of which are declared GMO-free when housed.

Why Irish beef fat? Ireland has a very temperate climate that provides a natural grass-based diet, high in vitamins and minerals, which reflects in the quality and flavour of our tallow.

Rendering in-house means we know exactly what’s going on in our tallow. We remove any meat trimmings, glands and blood vessels, creating a pure, rich tallow. Our cooking tallow is traditionally rendered once to preserve the flavour.

Delivery of Irish beef Cod Fat

Sourced from an HMC-certified supplier. Dunleavy Meats is known for its quality and strong Irish heritage.

Cut and Cleaned Beef Fat

We carefully remove all the glands and meat trimmings from the fat, making our tallow as pure as possible.

After Rendering

Our tallow is rendered low and slow for several hours. It’s packaged in glass and wrapped safely for delivery across the UK.

Our Skincare

Our skincare is a bit more complicated and requires a few more steps before we can produce our wonderful balms.

We use the same Irish tallow but render it 2-3 times more to create an odourless final result. It is wet rendered to remove as many impurities as possible. This way you won’t smell like a steak!

After rendering it is allowed to set at a cool temperature. Once set all the impurities are scraped off. After the third render, it is ready to be used in our skincare products.

Our Base Ingredients

Lightly filtered Beeswax

Supporting our local beekeeper in Peterborough. We buy unprocessed beeswax to craft our balms. It has a light, fragrant smell and gives a balmy-like texture. When not possible, we use beeswax from Spain, which has very strict laws regarding honey and beekeeping.

Sweet Almond Oil

We chose this as a base oil as it is very absorbing and feels light on the skin, unlike olive oil, which can be very thick and greasy. This is perfect as it doesn’t clog pores.

Essential Oils

We source our frankincense from Oman. They are known to grow some of the best varieties in the world. It has a much more floral scent compared to the Somali varieties. Our organic lavender oil is from Bulgari, which is the world leader in lavender oils. Smells beautiful and relaxing.
